REVLON Colorstay Moisture Stain : 035 Miami Fever Review and Swatches!
Lately, I have been hooked on to Orange shades for my nails and lips. I would be reviewing a bright eye-catching tangerine lips stain purchased from Duty Free Shop @ Changi airport from one of my favourite brands, REVLON in shade Miami fever.
PRICE: Approx. SGD 10$ at DFS. Available online at 675/- INR at Nykaa
COMPANY’S CLAIM ON THE PRODUCT:
“• Drenches lips in glossy wet color
• Ultra-light creamy lip stain with Vitamin E and Aloe
• 88% of women felt lips were instantly moisturized without stickiness “
MY FEEDBACK ON THE PRODUCT:
The product comes in a rectangular tube packaging having the outers tinted in the exact color as that of the lip stain. It has a regular tear shaped sponge applicator. The packaging might look plain to some as there is nothing flashy about it. But I liked it very much as the flashy prints on the regular lip gloss tends to fade after a month giving the tube an old look.
The texture of the lip stain is very thick, non-shimmery and very glossy. I couldn’t wait on the airport to use it but what followed was a shock. I have a daily habit of applying a lip balm couple of minutes before applying any lip color to smoothen out any dryness on my lips. It became very difficult to get a smooth application of this lip stain as it got very streaky and messy with an uneven finish. It did not even hold on to the inner part of my lips. I was really disappointed with the quality though I loved the shade very much.
But first impressions are always not the one’s to last. A couple of days later I wanted to give it another try but unknowingly this time I did not apply any lip balm. And BINGO! this time I got a perfect smooth and glossy finish. So lesson learn was “Never to use this one on moist lips“. It might take some time to settle down on lips but once settles it gives a perfect creamy and glossy look. Even being heavily pigmented and creamy it does not stick between the lips. It moisturized the lips nicely so I don’t miss using my regular lip balm.
The stay power of this lip stain is approx. 3-4 hours with very no/minimal meals which is not bad being just a lip stain. The color is easily transferable on glasses/cups so you would need a reapplication after a meal. The color gradually fades off leaving a subtle tint of orange color after 3-4 hours. The downside is that the gloss fades away after 1-2 hours from application. So to keep those lips shining, a reapplication is essential every two hours.
I am loving this lip stain right now and looking forward to purchase other shades from this range. I am not very disappointed with the stay power as being a lip stain with no shimmer, a stay power of 3-4 hours looks pretty decent to me.
- Packaging is sturdy and easy to carry.
- Decently priced.
- Heavy pigmented and glossy.
- Does not completely vanish from lips as leaves a subtle tint of color behind.
- The formula is definitely moisturizing.
- Gloss does not stay for long.
- Difficult to apply on moist lips.
REPURCHASE: Yes in some other shade.
